SARCA Teleconference Notes
Wednesday, January 22, 2020
SARCA conducted a teleconference with members on Wednesday, January 22 starting at 1905. There were 12 members on the call, including all EXCOM members. Tony Kanellis, Executive Director, welcomed those on the call and thanked them for taking time to dial in. MG(R) Broadway, President mention SARCAs presence on social medial (Facebook/LinkedIn) and our website. Thanks to Tony and Bob Fritz for keeping them up to date. We also discussed the SARCA Strategic Focus and Lines of Effort to continue SARCAs resurgence. Members mentioned finding opportunities for SARCA to engage at the Army War College, perhaps thru the AWC Alumni Foundation. We will explore those options with several of our SARCA members connected to the AWC. Also mentioned were:
Expanding SARCAs reach by extending memberships to the Army Reserve Ambassadors and perhaps Civilian Aides to the Secretary of the Army (CASAs)
More formal partnership with AUSA as an Association Membership
Join AUSA Speakerís Bureau. Look for opportunities on a regional basis to speak at Army and Army Reserve events
Continue communication with OCAR leadership. Team with the G3/5/7 on AUSA Annual Convention footprint as well as Army Reserve conferences.
Members invite their Facebook/LinkedIn contacts to join the SARCA group on both those platforms.
All of these are good ideas Ė several can be undertaken quickly. We will engage with AUSA and explore the benefits of an Association Membership with AUSA to determine benefits to SARCA.
MG (R) Broadway updated the members on SARCAs presence at the ROA National Council and Leaderís meeting, 14-17 March in Washington, DC. SARCA has 1.5 hours on the agenda Sunday, 15 March. However, there are several concurrent ROA committee meetings that will reduce the attendance at the SARCA meeting. Members mentioned maybe sponsoring a social in the evening with a guest speaker. We will continue to work with ROA and will post information on the SARCA website. We are also exploring conducting a SARCA meeting at the ROA National Convention in September in St. Louis.
We will place the SARCA Focus and Lines of Effort (LOE) on the SARCA website. We want members to comment and send us more ideas on how to continue the momentum in the next phase of our resurgence.
Meeting adjourned at 1945.
